This is a classic song coming from Super Mazembe. I am not sure when this song came out. It could have no earlier than 1974. It could have been also 1975, 19. Orchestra Super Mazembe was a popular band based in Kenya playing Lingala music. The band had roots in Super Vox, a band formed in 1967 in Zaire and led by Nashil Pichen Kazembe, Mutonkole Longwa Didos. The band moved to Nairobi in 1974 and changed its name to Orchestra Super Mazembe.

Summer-time arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning whilst I was enjoying the tropical tunes at the Soundway Records' Colombia LP launch party. An update tonight with lots of odds and ends:

* The African Serenades series is set to end with Vol. 50. A new moniker is required - suggestions to me by mail: matsulimusic AT gmail.com. Winning entrant will received a DVD of the African Serenades series and a few other bits and pieces from the matsuli library.
